Tehzeeb Foundation of Pakistan is working for the advancement and promotion of music, literature and fine arts in Pakistan. It is also carrying out preservation, promotion and archiving of classical music of the subcontinent.
For the Sitar Festival, Tehzeeb has invited the most eminent sitar players from all over the world. The participants from Pakistan include Rakae Jamil, Turab Ali, Beena Raza, Sajid Hussain, Farhan Khan and Usatd Rais Khansahib. The festival will also feature a fusion recital by the gifted guitarist Amir Zaki and sitar player Farhan Khan.
Ashraf Sharif Khan, the talented son of the sitar maestro Ustad Sharif Khan Poonchwaley, will be coming from Germany to perform at the event. From India, Tehzeeb has invited a renowned sitar player, singer and a composer Suhel Khan. He is the eldest son of legendry Ustad Rais Khansahib, and this will be his debut performance in Pakistan.
The event also includes Tehzeeb Awards 2010. The music awards will go to Ustad Rais Khansahib (classical music) and Babar Niazi & Javed Niazi (folk music). The ceremony will include performances of the recipient artistes. Tehzeeb Awards in other disciplines will be given to Asad Muhammad Khan (Urdu prose), Zehra Nigah (Urdu poetry) and Salima Hashmi (Fine Arts).
